This is a great machine for basic sewing and serging. Serger is a little complicated for threading but very easy to use .

I have just received this set of machines as a gift from my grandmother. So far so good. :)
Sewing Machine
Pros--
1. So many different feet to mess with! This is totally awesome! I love the gathering foot and the invisible zipper foot!
2. Easy to use--this machine is pretty much self explanatory--but it does come with a nice instruction manual for reference
3. Hundreds of different stitches that all seem to work great
Cons--
1. the bobbin cover seems rather loose, but it hasn't fallen off by itself yet--so we'll see about that.
2. the buttons on the key pad (the 8 and the elongation one) stick; they do work though.
Serger
The serger seems to be a fairly good machine. It has a lovely stitch and I haven't had any problems with it yet. It comes with an instruction manual, although it's not very detailed.

This is the best machine I have owned. I love all the "things" I can do. My projects look like a professional made them. I am proud to show off "my" talent (it's really the machine doing all the hard stuff). Still learning the whole serger thing, but I am enjoying the process. Love the machine but I hate the website. Can't seem to get what I need. How frustrating is that? I had to go to another "non-singer" website to get what I hope is the right answer. Wish me luck!

This combo is great. Both are easy to use and work perfectly. Already started making clothes and a quilt. These machines are great for a beginner like me.

I love the Perfect finish Sewing machine with all it's patterns and sewing capabilities. The Serger however, is a little complicated for me. But I will master it given time. I also own the Singer Futura. I purchased my first Sewing machine in 1964. To sew for my daughter. She is now sewing on that machine. Currently I'm sewing for my grandchildren. I sew clothing, crafts, and some furniture cushions.
